The Market is always right

Fraser Nelson, writing in the News of the World, claims that "a good judge of political reputation is to see how much biographies or memoirs are selling for in amazon.co.uk's second-hand list."

He goes on to contrast Tony Blair (£1.99), Gordon Brown (£2.85) and John Prescott (75p) unfavourably with Margaret Thatcher, whose works sell for a 'majestic' £44.95.

I think he is being ripped off. He could get the Downing Street Years in hardcover for £1.45, Statecraft: Changing Strategies for a Changing World for £1.32, the audiocasette for £2.90 (though I don't think this features the author speaking) or a biography for 1p.

Yet another sign that, as the Lady said, the market is always right.
